Hi Tom,
You get this message because the SQL designers in Access 2002 do not work against SQL Server 2005. This is unfortunatly the expected behavior and won't be corrected until Access 2007 is released. This problem is not unique to Access 2002, it also happens in Access 2003 and Visual Studio 2002/2003, it is caused by the fact that these products all use a version of the designers that were created prior to SQL 2005 and they don't understand some of the structures in SQL 2005.
Designers that do work against SQL Server 2005 (including Express) are available in Management Studio Express, which you can download from http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download.

Mike,
Your answer indiacates that we can not use Access XP (Project) as front end to SQL server 2005. Somehow Microsoft does not utter a word about this. I have also tried many solutions for this but none of them is found useful. Can any won suggest (me / ) access developer comunity as such the solution to use Access XP /2003 as front end with SQL Server 2005 at the backend?
