Linksys wireless usb problems with vista

I have been having problems with the pci and usb Linksys wireless adapters when I installed windows vista RC1 build 5600. It always gives me these errors: Can't load ProcNIC'sdll and Can't load Res_dll Maybe I need to find drivers for windows vista and if they are not there then I guess I will have to wait until they do.

The only problem I see with windows vista is the networking problems. I have seen other posts for network problems so I guess I am not alone.

Hello Sweettooth,

Can you provide more info about the Linksys wireless adapter like version numbers? And when exactly do you get the error messages? (during install?)

Can you provide the exact error message and dll names its failing to load.

Thanks,
Louis Shanks

I didn't find anything specific to Vista but searching random websites I did see where individuals running Windows XP received the same error.

Are you using driver 2.0.2.0 dated 05-03-2005?

Also does the wireless adapter work? Meaning do you have connectivity and the errors are only present when attempting to run the Linksys application?

Have you attempted to right click on the Linksys application and set the compatability mode to Windows XP?

Thanks,
Louis Shanks

I think that is the driver I am using. I know that I am using 4.2 The wireless adapter does work, I am using it right now on my xp computer with the same 4.2 drivers. I have not tried to set the compatibility mode but I think it's worth a try.

So does the adapter work (you have network connectivity)?

It sounds like you just get the error message in the Linksys app is this correct?

This is something you might consider cross posting since this forum is for developers who have appcompat issues.

A few things you might try.

1) You can chat with Vista technology enthusiasts at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/community/default.mspx

2) You can post to http://www.activewin.com which has a Windows Vista forum this should be the direct link. http://www.anetforums.com/threads.aspx?ForumIndex=98.

3) The Vista Newsgroups http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx

4) The Vista Community page has more information about this and more. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/community/default.mspx

I have a Linksys WUSB54GS wireless card that connects to a Linksys WRT54GS. I have installed Vista enterprise multiboot option with XP. I installed the XP drivers on VISTA ok for my wireless card and was able to see my wireless network too. I tried connecting using my WEP key to get an error that I have a limited connectivity. After several tries I found some where in the internet that I have to provide the hexadecimal value of the WEP key rather than the alphanumeric value as VISTA doesn't have a way to translate as it did with Windows XP. I copied the hexadecimal value from my router and used that as a WEP key voila! now I connected to my wireless, obtained IP address, and able to surf the internet fine. If you see colons between your hexadecimal values remove them and just use the numbers.

I hope this helps.
