How to connect to TFS on untrusted domain

We have installed the TF server on one domain, say Foo_1. All users are currently on Foo_2. These two domains are untrusted.

However, all users have separate accounts on the Foo_1 domain as well. How foo_1\Tom connect to TFS using the credentials foo_2\Tom? foo_2\tom is already a member of the TF Valid Users Group.

I am trying to setup the connection in Team Explorer but it is failing with the error TF31002.

I installed the Security Configuration wizard and port 8080 is specified as open. However, using a port scanner that I downloaded port 8080 comes up as blocked.

I also cannot connect to any web services on this server.

With the luck I've been having the past few days it turns out that this was due to a conflict between the WINS and DNS resolutions.

Once I got the correct IP and used that, I was able to connect.
