HELP!!! error 25007 while i install visual studio 2005,how can i fix it?

i corruptted a critical problem while installing visual studio 2005 pro. in my en_xp with sp2 and all updates.

while i tried to install that visual studio 2005 sp1(beta), the install wizard told me i got a not enough space in my C:/ drive, so i rolled back it.

however, someone cancel it while it rollbacking, while i tried to open the existed visual studio 2005 to write some code, a error happened, so i decided to reinstall the visual studio 2005.

Before that, i uninstall the Document Explorer and XML 6 parser ,also .net framework 2.0 and all components of visual studio 2005. even more, i deleted the C:\assembly folder. i cannot bear that just.

However, while i reinstall the visual studio 2005 pro. it runs into a critical error 25007; it describes as ' while initializing fusion Setup could not load fusion with LoadLibraryShim(). Error; the handle is invalid'.

i do not wanna reinstall my OS, how can i fix it?

are you trying to install the final full version of Visual Studio 2005? or are you trying to re-install the beta version?

thanks :)

i'm trying to install the final full version of VS 2005 Pro, not the beta version.

the former version installed in my PC is just the full version of Visual Studio 2005 Pro ENU. and it runs normally.

so you already had a beta installed on this PC before installing the full final version of VS2005? if so, please take a look at the link I supplied and scroll down to uninstalling the beta's - there will be some links there for some beta removal tools which should be used to clean up previous beta installations.

I'll see what else I can come up with but would be good if you can perform a system restore back to the data you did not install Visual Studio, then try to install it and see what happens. Be sure to have enough disk space also

Apperently this problem is known on Windows Vista RC1/earlier builds but you seem to be running XP SP2...

unlucky

i deleted all system restore point because i got a critical poor disk space warning , i got only less than 200M space in my C drive.

any good suggestions?

you need to free up much more diskspace than that, about 2GB I believe. This could be one main reason for the errors to show up.

somewhere the SP1 components are still lingering about somewhere I believe. I would suggest to see if you can find something else to remove in the add/remove programs for .NET and Visual Studio.

other than that I am stuck I'm afraid but I am sure someone else will post something. The only thing I would suggest is system restore but you stated that you removed those files/didnt set a restore point. Are you sure there is no restore point at all before Visual Studio installation?

yeap, i'm sure no any restore point existed now :(

As for u stated 'somewhere the SP1 components are still lingering about somewhere I believe. I would suggest to see if you can find something else to remove in the add/remove programs for .NET and Visual Studio.' yeap, i think it should be somewhere, however i can not find it. i would try ur suggestions, thanks so much.

another clue: i think i had uninstalled that Windows Installer 3.1 in my add/remove programs panel, however the visual studio 2005 install wizard said it still existed in my PC, why? And now, no any branch related to Visual Studio 2005 existed in my add/remove panel.

i think the Windows Installer 3.1 had been included in Visual Studio 2005 install package, right?

I think it maybe so however try to re-install it again from the link, then continue setup. Otherwise I am really stuck I'm afraid.

You may wish to file a report on this in the product feedback for SP1 on http://connect.microsoft.com
