Mobile 5 Emulator Images Do Not Sync With ActiveSync 4.0.4343 and 4.1.4841.0

Hi

I've currently got a problem with connecting theUK Mobile 5 Smartphone Imageto ActiveSync (Builds 4343 and 4841), via the Device Emulator 1.0 (Community Preview). I can successfully get ActiveSync to recognise that the emulator is running and it attempts to connect, however the following error message is returned from ActiveSync:

"Microsoft ActiveSync Cannot Recognize This Device For One or Two Reasons"

I've successfully been able to sync Pocket PC 2003 images, but each time I've tried a Mobile 5 image it fails. To ensure it was a problem with Mobile 5 images I also tested an image from the WM5 SmartPhone SDK (due to not being able to install the SDK as I do not have VS 2005 installed), of which again booted fine in the emulator and was recognised by ActiveSync once cradled, but could not be connected to.

Before each test I have killed the wcescomm.exe ActiveSync process and have waited until the image has loaded successfully in the emulator before loading ActiveSync again, and cradling the device.

Any help would be great...

Do you have both versions of ActiveSync on the machine? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveSync?

Anand,

Thanks for your response. I originally installed the latest version (4.1) and got a connection, but didn't get things to sync, so removed this and installed (4.0). I've now (4.1) installed again but I'm still not having any joy. Any ideas?

Cheers,

James

James,

We checked with the ActiveSync team and they said that they will be adding sync fucntionality back again in a future release.

Hy,

When it doesn't sync I go to File-> Connections and there press "Connect" . It always worked this way.
