Could we translate this soft to chinese?

The beta will be released tomorrow,it's a exciting moment! We wait this moment for a long time....

I am a member of "XNA Union Of China" ,and it's the first group of

the XNA technology in china. It's no-commercial group,We have the same hobby, most of us are students.

In order to extend the xna technology in china,Could we translate the XNA GSE( beta )to chinese?

we just want translate the tools of the xna,not the c#, we also don't publish it,we just share them to other chinese XNA fans.

I wait your reply........

Very unlikely. I've never seen any Microsoft software that allows an end user to provide the translation.

However other than the documentation there isn't much that is language specific - its an add on to c# express and some libraries. I don't know if c# express supports Chines but if it does then you can work in your native language and since .Net 2.0 is unicode its likely that XNA Framework is too.

I think YCDC.CN is to say that they want translate the XNA Game Studio Express Documentation, not the whole software.

There's no reason why they couldn't do that.

Sadly there is probably a VERY good reason why they can't do that. See the little (c) Microsoft at the bottom of every page of documentation on MSDN. If you translated it and publiched it somewhere you might get an email from the MS lawyers.

For instance,we just replace "Open" to"打开"(chinese)","Edit"to"编辑",ext...

And most important,we are no commercial and we just a group fans of XNA in china.

So back to my original answer - there are no MS products that allows translation by the end user so the answer is "unlikely".

At the end of the day XNA express is c# express with a bunch of add-ins and libraries so try to see if you can do what you want to c# express.

You would need to talk to a lawyer to determine the legality of modifying software and giving copies to people. But most EULA's I have seen from any big company expreslly forbid you to modify the software.

For V1, XNA Game Studio Express will only be available in English. We are looking into localizing future versions of XNA Game Studio Express and associated documentation for other countries.

We will have more details about this sometime next year. We definately appreciate your interest!

I think if we can't translate it into chinese. We can write a direction for it. I think it may not good to translate all the buttons and options into Chinese. A people who really have a great interest in developing SHOULD have the resolution to learn English. In fact it's not quite hard I think. Much easir than play FC games in Japanese when we were yong.

Again, that's just MY opion, I prefer to make a simple Chinese direction. However, if there are some one who really want to translate it into Chinese, I think i can make some help.

Anything you want to do with Microsoft Products, you must have the license from Microsoft. Or, you will be sent to court by Microsoft.
