webcam problem
Does anyone else have any errors with the VIMICRO USB PC CAMERA on Vista, it worked fine under XP SP2, however i have tried using it on vista & Windows Live Messenger (Which its designed for), and it can load all the drivers etc, but always displays a black screen?.
Has anyone managed to get there VIMICRO USB PC CAMERA to run under vista, i am also unable to install the software again due to my OS not being Windows XP, and i have also tried running setup.exe with compatability mode (Win XP SP2), but it still tells me it could not run due to it not being windows XP

What version of the VIMICRO usb camera are you using?
Where did you get the driver? (Came with the camera etc?)

It name was "VIMICRO PC USB CAMERA" I think "VMC 303". But i installed "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor". That name is "A4 TECH USB PC Camera H" now, and it is working correctly. I don't have any problem about webcam. Thank you for insteret.
I have a problem with my Vimicro usb webcam model # ZC0301PLH. I had it working at one point but due to problems with my computer i had to reinstall windows. Now i cannot seem to get the camera to be recognised by the pc. I have installed the files using "setup.exe" in the cd that accompanied the webcam and it still will not work. I am running this software on windows xp home edition. Any help at all is much appreciated.

I'm also experiencing the same problem, my VIMicro webcam 305 gets detected as the A4 Tech camera, sound works but I get no picture, just an empty video window when I try to view the camera output.
I've also tried installing the XP drivers and get exactly the same problem.
The camera works fine on XP Sp2.
Does anybody know of a driver for the VIMICRO series of webcams that works for vista.

I have the VIMICRO USB PC Camera (ZC0301PLH) and it works fine under Visa home basic and XP. 
I chose not to use the update file via Windows update as it seemed to want to install the (VC0303) camera.
I used an old driver that I got from a friend so I am not sure where he got it from.
How would i make it available for download? Its a zip file and its 61megs.

dude... or anyone.. I got a friend I'm helping set up vista in her computer and they got this camera vimicro with the problem discribed above. when updating drivers at microsoft sd it failed to update the driver vc0303. the current driver installed in the camera is version 301.6.227.4 and this the driver id according to ms is 12695098 any ideas how to get that driver update?, it doesnt show it when i tried to custom update in windows vista.
should I installed the windows vista advisor on vista ? to make it run?
ps. under scanners and cameras it doesnt show the vimicro camera and device manager doesnt show any conflicts or issues with the camera which shows installed.
on vimicro webiste tells you this driver was avaliable since 2003.. where do i get it from...

i am using window Vista now and i have installed the driver for VIMICRO USB PC CAMERA VC0303. but it can only show complete blank or black
the computer say it is working properly but it is not
i tried using Window Vista Upgrade Advisor and it says it will automatically update and work but it is not working.. did i use it the wrong way?

The best way to update any webcam is to try to get the software directly from the manufacturer. Using any driver from 2003 is almost guaranteed that it may have issues running under Vista since it was written before Vista was even released. Getting a Certified for Vista driver is the best way to get a product that is guaranteed to work. Also, as a note, driver software does not uninstall properly. Occasionally you can fix this by making registry changes to the filters but do so at your own risk.

I did get a driver that some nice dude shared with me from the "vista geeks" website but it was pretty much the same driver that came with the camera, so it didnt work. I emailed him back but he hasnt replied yet, (2 weeks ago)

hey i have the same problem i think, as i got a vimicro webcam and it worked on vista before i updated the driver software and now it doesnt work... it just shows a blank screen...but the mic still works...
however before i updated the software my computer kept crashing after installing the software for the webcam so i updated it to see if it would stop and it has but now my webcam doesnt work

This is a basic install guide for the Vimicro USB PC Camera (ZC301PLH)
1. Unistall the camera via control panel, add remove hardware.
2. restart pc
3. Download the driver file from www.wegofly.co.uk Links tab ( I have made the file smaller now. Only 31 megs)
4. unzip the file and find the Driver folder. Select and run the Setup.exe
5. Select next and allow the files to install. You might need to restart your computer again.
Do not allow the update from Windows Update to install as my camera seemed to
stop working after I updated and I had to do it all again. (uncheck the option)
The camera should now work fine.
Please give it a go and tell me if it works for you.
