Attn: Engineers! Stop the bank robber before they will strike via technology!
The generals in my country ask me how it is possible to stop the bank robbers before they will strike? I said "Yes I can!" Can you read their minds? I said "No" Then how? I said "by using technology that is available long time ago!"
I've been studying for a long time how the bank robbery is being executed and it comes only with one denominator. Stolen vehicles are used to execute bank robbery. If we have a system to detect that a particular vehicle is stolen, then we can stop the vehicle even before it reach the target place. I am inviting computer engineers to participate in the development of a systems that can have great impact to the world safety. I'm looking for an engineer, thinker whose life is dedicated to solve the perennial problem of our society. In my country people are dying in the street and we can't close our eyes to this fact. Something must be done and I am using my time to be of help, at least in some way, rather than to be a person like many of our generation, whose time goes to drugs, womanizing, drinking and many other vices.
To the Engineers & Researchers: An invitation to explore ideas and technology
RFID & Scanner: How it can be used to stop the crime before it happen.
In January 1, 2005, Walmart, the biggest retailer in the U.S., directed its 100 biggest suppliers to use RFID tag to its inventory for tracking. The move of Walmart to use RFID gives the technology a great opportunity to be exposed to many research companies to think about its uses.
Since 2004, our country is plagued by bank robberies, kidnapping, carnapping and our government even tried to call FBI from U.S. for help. (Visit:http://www.inq7.net/opi/2004/jan/07/letter_4-1.htm). When I am doing shopping, I observed how successful the RFID technology in preventing theft. As the product passed on the scanner, it will make a sound to alert the sales person that a product is not paid yet. I thought, somehow the technology can be the answer to my research to identify if a particular vehicle is stolen or not.
1. Bank robbery, kidnapping, terrorism: How RFID & Scanner can prevent it before it happen.
In the series of news clipping that I made in the year 2004, all bank robberies and kidnappings have one common denominator: Criminals stole vehicles first then executes their crime. If we have RFID in every car and our streets have scanners in the major cities, we can stop the stolen cars as it pass on it and so the criminals inside it. It would be difficult for them to reach the target place knowing such systems exists.
In the case of assasination of former Prime Minister Hariri of Lebanon, it was reported that the truck used to load the bomb was stolen from Japan.
2. Overspeeding and Car accidents: How RFID & Scanner can reduce death in the streets.
There is increasing death in the road of Dubai, UAE despite of the availability of cameras to catch overspeeding, Most of the drivers reduce the speed when they are near to camera and speed up again after passing from it. Drivers could easily cheat this technology. But with the use of RFID, it would be difficult to do that, if we have scanners on both ends of the roads and your entry time is registered, if you reach the other end ahead of time under a particular speed say 100 miles per hour, it means you drive fast in between and penalty can be automatically done by the computer. We all know that speed and time are constant.
Note: There was a news report that IBM and UAE government enter into a million dollar research to explore the applicability of blackbox in the vehicles to combat overspeeding problem that causes huge number of death on the road.
Hopefully this could be of help to the researchers who are into RFID technology.
