Senior Vice President Eric Rudder announced the unveiling of the final release of the .NET Framework 3.0 at a recent keynote at TechEd: Developers conference in Barcelona, Spain.Download the new release today.

P.S. Remember to uninstall CTPs/Betas before install.

Also, remember that with Vista, you get .NET Framework 3.0 in the box and you need to upgrade to the RTM version of Vista to get the RTM .NET Framework.

that's your call but depends on the application if it specifically requires that runtime version I believe. Generally should be ok. Windows Vista (if you are interested) will ship by default with .NET 3.0
