Status property on AdCenterCampaign

Hello,

When are we going to get the status property on the AdCenterCampaign object?

I can pause and resume a campaign using the UI. It's very anoying that we can't see this using the API and that we cant pause/resume a campaign. Simulating campaign pausing, by pausing the orders is an ugly hack, when you guys could probably implement campaign pausing/resuming in 15 minutes on your side.

Best regards,

Peer Jakobsen

That would be nice.

And also enable/disable operations for ads and keywords ...

My vote goes for this, as well!

(especially the status at the orderitem level: if we want to deactivate

an orderitem for a while, we have to delete it now and create it again

later on => not elegant at all!)

Thank you,

Orest

P.S. Those of you who would like these features sooner rather than later, please sign this "petition".

Thanks folks, I have both on the feature requests list, I really hope we can do them as soon as possible.

Really appreciate the feedback.

Thanks!

It would be nice if this worked like Google adwords. Where you can set the status flag of an entity, then all the work is done on the server side. Not requiring us to make a separate web service call to pause the order or campaign or entity.

Hey guys,

happy new year.

Is 2007 the year of the long awaited PauseResumeCampaigns method? :)

I hope so - but I don't want to commit... :)

We have it on the list, but obviously we have some higher-priority items as well.

Hello adCenter team,

The AdCenterAccount has a Status property, as well.

To the best of my knowledge, this property is not accessible for us (API users) to update. (Please correct me if I am wrong!)

Would it be possible for us to be able to pause/resume an entire

account, in the near future? This would be helpful in case our sites go

down for various reasons. We would like to be able to pause our

adCenter accounts, instead of going at the order level (thousands of

such orders would have to be paused/resumed vs. a few accounts).

I hope you will take this suggestion into consideration.

Thank you,

Orest

I second that. We had a big problem yesterday and needed to pause all accounts which was quite long and tedious. It would be nice to be able to set / force the AccountStatus property to active or inactive.
In fact either PauseResumeAccount or PauseResumeCampaign are much needed features and would please your favourite API users. :D

We are looking into pausing/resuming accounts. There are some good news coming soon about pausing/resuming both order items and campaigns, programmatically. Expect an anouncement later this year (begining of April, hopefully).

The Status property we currently have on AdCenterAccount is read only.

Thanks!

Looks like we finally have the most awaited PauseResumeCampaigns! Well done guys.

PauseResumeOrderItems is out there too. Cool!

Now, a bit of criticism cos one always needs some. Wink
From what I understand in the dedicated MSDN page V4 of WSDLs won't be accessible in the sandbox env until one week after they were released in the live environment. Shouldn't it be the other way around so we can test our scripts in the sandbox and move them over to production env once they run OK?

Looking forward to play with PauseResumeCampaigns. Smile

Good work guys.

Also keep in mind, as we just found out, that once you pause a campaign you are limited with what you do with orders under the campaign. I'm not yet sure of the full extent of the limit but I do know, for example, that if you have a campaign paused then you can not pause or resume the order underneath it. You can do this with every other major PPC engine.

This is despite the documentation saying that the order retains its original status when you pause a campaign.

I find this very annoying too.

Another example is when the monthly budget has been spend or if an insertion order is finished, then suddenly we are no longer allowed to pause/resume an adgroup. This creates frustration because we cannot keep the data synchronized immediately, but have to wait for some external event. If this external event is some guy at MSN that decides to process an order insertion, then our system wont be aware of this unless we check the status 50 times a day.

I didn't know you couldn't pause or resume orders once the monthly budget is spent. That is a huge problem, I'll have to look at that. Have you verified this lately, or was this an older issue? I seem to recall our MSN contact saying that had been resolved, but I haven't verified it. Thanks for mentioning it.

Lets see, what else have we run into lately... if you add an ad with the same information to different orders, MSN will merge them and return the same id for both. And there are a fairly large number of undocumented error codes, especially in v4.

Any other bits of undocumented brokenness you have run into lately?

It is definitely extremely difficult to use the MSN API to keep data in sync with all the arbitrary restrictions they place on it.

Marc, AdCenter will merge ads with same content even across campaigns in your account. I just received confirmation about that from support. Quite annoying when you update one ad in a group and see your changes appear in other groups/campaigns.
