XNA Development Laptop

Hey guys! My situation is this, I am currently working as a Tech Service Rep at a Call Center that handles Broadband Support and have noticed a bit of down time between calls. So I ask myself, "What can I do to make the most of this downtime?" And it came to me, I can use this time to actually work on my XNA game development!!!

However, I don't think the good people here at my job would enjoy it much

if I just went around installing Visual Studio on their computers so that

only leaves me with one choice. I need a laptop.

So I was wondering what everybodys suggestions would be for a decent Development laptop.

Here is one that I was looking at (LINK HERE). The one thing I was worried about was the integrated onboard memory. So guys I leave it with you. Any suggestions, comments, concerns?

I thank you in advance for your help!! ^^

Would they enjoy your doing independent development (read: "not work") on their time? You might want to check. Most employers frown on this kind of thing.

Well it is either that or follow suit with everybody else in the company and work on myspace or place games.

Hey, I'm not trying to be a jerk. Personally, I couldn't care less what you do with your down time. And if I were your manager, I'd much rather see you working on development, even if it's "just for fun", as opposed to fiddling around on MySpace or playing games. But I'm not, and not everybody has the same philosophy I do. I was just suggesting that you might want to check with somebody first, rather than finding out the hard way that it's not allowed.

A comedian once said:
"When you're at the office, your employer can't make you work, but at least he can prevent you from having fun."

But this doesn't tell you what laptop you could buy for development, does it?

Hi, I've just arrived on this forum, and actually I'm looking for something else about add-ins in VS8, but I saw your question and I can tell you that : I'm sometimes developing on my laptop in C# with VS8, It's working just fine, and it was just the cheapest DELL 6 month ago (1GB ram, Celeron 2GHz, and 60GB HDD). Maybe you need some spectific stuff for games, but even Google Earth works fine, so... Well, hope it's usefull. Bye.
