Time frame / project status / WinFS ?

Hi all,
I've been reading a bit about Linq and WinFS lately. I installed WinFS beta 1 and looked at the examples. It all looks promissing, but WinFS will take about two more years before it will finally be released. I was wondering when the final version Linq will be released. My guess is it won't be in Visual Studio 2005, because that will be in two months. Am I right? Actually I don't even know what the status of the project is at this moment. Are the current technology previews 'beta 1' or is this still 'alpha'?
Something else I want to know is how Linq will fit on WinFS. When both Linq and WinFS are final, will WinFS schema's and DLinq schema's fit together? Can WinFS schema's and / or DLinq schema's be generated based on existing class-structures?
I will try the Linq Technology Preview for C# soon. But when I read about Linq, I wanted to ask these questions for getting a better perspective on the project and for getting an idea about the roll out time. Maybe someone can help me out here.
Greets!

the project dates have not been announced, so I can't comment on it. But Linq is a part of C# 3.0, so it will definately not appear in VS2005 due for release this november 7th.

I belive C# 3.0 is due to be released in the codenamed Orcas time frame which should be after/along Windows Vista being released so that they have a Developer tool that can exploit all the facilities provided by Windows Vista.

I am not 100% sure on how WinFS is shaping up, but in the last Video I saw on WinFS on Channel9.msdn.com they mentioned that the programming model of WinFS would change significantly. I think they will move to a Linq based API.
So the status of Linq is Technology Preview - which is something even before alpha. They are trying to just preview the technology they have been working on building.

Hope this cleasrs things out for you.
