Overrride Vista / ATI identification of video adapter

On booting from the DVD, did you burn the DVD yourself? Can you check if you have boot priority set to DVD as 1st priority?

I suggest that you try reburning the DVD from the ISO image on a different media and try rebooting from DVD directly.

I recently installed Vista beta 1, along with Visual Studio 2005 beta 2 and the WinFX sdk. I had numerous problems with Vista, which I haven't found solutions for yet. I hope you guys can help.

1) I cannot get the network to work properly. The main problem is that I cannot enter my company's network domain. The first time I installed Vista and I entered my network properties, the system refused to reboot, and it showed a corrupted screen, after which it kept on rebooting. The Vista setup offers some tool to check what went wrong in the startup. The setup detected the problem, but couldn't give additional information on the problem. I stripped my PC until there was nothing left but the bare necessities, and it booted. Still, there was no way I could enter the company's domain.
The network card operates fine, since I can browse the internet and all. Also, I have tried two decent network cards. Anyone experienced the same problems?

2) Performance is bad, really bad. I'm testing on my old PC, which isn't fast, but not THAT slow. It's a P4, 1.8Ghz, 1GB RAM, Geforce 6800 Ultra. It can take up to 30 seconds just to open 'my computer'. There are regular lockups, which are solved after about a minute. I've already disabled the onboard sound card in my bios, which it couldn't recognize. I've also set the desktop theme to 'classic'. This helped a little, but it is still extremely slow. My graphics card should easily be able to handle such simple graphics tasks. Which gets me to my next problem:

3) I can't get the NVidia geforce 6800 alpha drivers installed. It simply says I don't have any such hardware.

4) Obviously I regularly checked the task manager to see what's eating my processor. The performance window shows a constant 100% CPU power. The processes all show zero percent activity. I've read about this before, and it seems there is not solution to this problem yet?

Well, this is the most important stuff, I hope someone has some tips, especially on performance issues.
