Error updating TableAdapter definition in VS Designer

I have a DataSet that I'm editing in the VS Designer. I've recently copied over a new version of the database with an updated schema (unfortunately I don't have the previous version to hand to test with this). Now, when I 'Configure...' a TableAdapter definition in here, when I click the 'Finish' button in the wizard to update it, I get an error message:-

An unexpected error has occurred.

Please record the following message when seeking support from Microsoft:

ErrorCode:-1

Additional Info:

The TableAdapter definition does not get updated. Note that the error occurs even if I don't make any changes.

Please can anyone help? I need to update the TableAdapter in order to add new fields.
