CS 2007 license and price ?
Hi all,
I am using the CS 2007 Evaluation for Developer. But in the future I want to use it for my customer. Is using CS 2007 Evaluation against law ? And how much is the price of the CS 2007 ?
Thank you.

Microsoft provides Commerce Server 2007 Evaluation Edition so that users can evaluate the product before they make a decision to purchase their licenses. Microsoft also provides Commerce Server 2007 Developer Edition FREE to developers (but not for production purposes). Pricing and license details can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/commerceserver/howtobuy/production.mspx.

Thanks for your answer.
I have read about the licenses on the Microsoft website. But I still wonder about this. For example, I will buy the CS 2007. I use the CS 2007 framework, object, architecture, v.v... to build a complete solution. And then I want to sell that solution to the customer. So, in this case, what is the license I need ? And can you tell me more about the CS 2007 licenses (because I find so little information on the MS site)
Thanks again.
Note: they would also need a license for SQL Server 2005, which currently runs at $5,999 U.S. per processor.

Hi there, (Jeff/all thanks for providing the licensing links!)
For your own development purposes, you'll need to purchase your own licenses for the following:
When selling your solution to customers, they will need to purchase their own licenses as well:
Thanks, Caesar.
This might sound like a plug, but the MSDN subscription licenses are worth their weight in gold. Even will access to CS 2007 being free I highly recommend the MSDN subscription if you don't already have it.

- Commerce Server 2007, they'll have to choose between Standard or Developer Edition
So if they choose Developer Edition, is that free for them ?
Thanks again.
I believe Caeser meant to write that the customer needs to choose between Standard and Enterprise edition.
The developer edition, while free, limits the system to ~10 client connections. That's more than enough for a single user to debug an application, but you could see how that might have some problems when scaling out in an enterprise scenario. ![]()
