Hi, why are the urls in the profile no links? it is not very comfortable to copy the urls and then paste them into the adress bar.
Hi folks,Just a small suggestion. It seems there are a LOT of people who think that the "Web Services" forum is for IIS questions, as in "THE web service running on my box"instead of "Web Services questions, as in .ASMX type stuff"Not sure how I'd go about putting in a description, but you ...

I spent 10 minutes typing up a post. I had been browsing the forum signed in for almost an hour. I typed up the message checmkarked , alert me and this psot contains a code sample and hit Post. It redirected me to the login window. I logged in with my passwport even though I have "save email ...
To whom to complain about absence of the VFPButton in this forum? We have in this forum C#, VB, but where is button for the VFP code?Thank you very much to whom who can solve this ...

I see there is a Windows Forms group here. I suppose there is no intention of cross linking over to http://windowsforms.net/Forums/ as with the ASP.NET forums?
To save typing/duplication of effort it would be good to be able to provide a URL that would take someone directly to the posting marked as an answer rather than just having a URL to the start of a thread. That way, if the same question was asked in some other forum/community/whatever the answer ...

Hi, I think there must be a way for the user to just use a dropdown or something similar to specify the version of .NET he/she is refering to. This can cause quite a confusion now with many already on the Beta2 and others still on V1.1 Regards, Vikram
I suggest a forum where third parties whose controls work with net2.0 and /or asp.net 2.0, and integrate into vs 2005 can mention themselves. There'd have to be self-control. A brief description and a URL.In another thread, somebody mentioned componentone. componentone and infragistics produce ...
Any chance we will see any DirectX or Managed DirectX forums? I would find em useful <img src="/library/msdn/emoticons/emotion-2.gif" alt="Big Smile" />
I've noticed what I think is a hiccough in the Question/Answer mechanism. Sometimes a question is answered correctly but the answer (or another post in the thread) prompts a follow-up question which generally gets sent using Reply or Quote so it is in-context.However, since the original ...

We need a TechNet Forum so that us Non-Developers have somewhere to talk. I'd also like to see something like Channel 9 for TechNet.
Why are the ASP.NET forums hosted on a different site with a separate registration and login from this site?
1. I've been through the motions of adding forums to my trusted sites (per the FAQ) and still can't post from my client's network. More Idea's please?2. One of the search text boxes gives an error on evey character typed. Not nice The text enters and works. But it is a pain. The box is in ...

Hi, I have used the regular MSDN newsgroups for Sharepoint and Biztalk but I feel it would be good to have a separate grouping here on forums.microsoft.com for all the Server Products such as Sharepoint Portal Server, Biztalk Server, CMS and Commerce Server. Regards, Vikram
Hey, a forum for architecture things... to discuss about design patterns and practices... and project architecure.. I tought that would be cool
At least add a 64bit one
Maybe at this time this isn't much of a problem, but as the number of posts grows( like at forums.asp.net, where there's already close to 1,000,000 posts ),it would be useful to be able to *only* search in posts which have been markedby users as containing a "correct answer".That would allow ...
I suggest that the forum description is displayed in a prominant color (such as red) at the top of the Post a New Message page. I think that this will help reduce the number of off-topic posts, as it appears that users are completely ignoring the forums descriptions on the front page. Also I ...

To post message(or reply) to this forum anyone must use this rich-text control to type(or paste) his/her message first. But this control EXTREMELY uncomfortable from my point of view. For example, try to copy code-sample from C# Express 2005(usual format using Tabs) and paste it to this ...
Can there be a "mark all as read" button/link added to the each forum? It's very difficult to keep an eye out for new messages in a forum right now. Thanks, --Oren
And another good idea is that you should label your forums topic to be specific to what you want per topic such as - Ideas & Suggestions (specific only to forum content, layout and other logistical data).
Actually, I think the site's already trying to do this - or perhaps times appear in PST no matter where the reader is located?Anyway, in the Pacific time zone, we're currently in PDT, not PST. The site is showing PST, and it is the correct PST time, but I'd rather see PDT since that's what ...
In another thread an mvp suggested tree view. I'd love that. It would save tremendous amounts of time.Second I wasn't enarmoured of NNTP. The one thing I did like and used often in the 2003 forums was the ability to upload and download sample applications.Thirdly, you need a spelling checker. ...

Are you guys happy with this feature of marking thread as resolved/unresolved? Thanks, Lucian
Ya know I really don't care when folks "joined" this forum and if I did, all I would have to do is click on their name to get that info. I find that having the "joined on" dates along with the message post date is visually busy and distracts me from the more import message post date.
...or to put it another way: why do you include a "Remember me" checkbox, when it doesn't remember me? I tick it every time, and every time I want to post, it asks me for my password again, which is a real waste of time.

Can we please have more emoticons? I see 5 as not nearly enough <img src="/library/msdn/emoticons/emotion-2.gif" alt="Big Smile" />
Hi! Is there a realtion between the NNTP and messages posted here. I saw some messages about "NNTP User". Also I recognize that none of the messages here are available in Google. In my eyes his is a great step back. Martin

Hi! Does anybody knows why does Microsoft have both msdn newsgroups (msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups) and fmsdn orums (this site)? Would it be better if discussions where place in a single place so that people with common questions help each other better? Dimitris
If there isn't one hidden somewhere already, please provide an option to turn off the childish emoticions. They play havoc with C++ code posted in messages!
that is where I would post, but I must use VS-general instead
Just requesting an sql2005 forum where microsoft sql 2005 employees answers our questions. Thanks
Do you have any suggestions ?
You have some windows forms forums here. But the parallel whidbey windows forms forums are still fully functioning.Their volume is still much higher than yours. Theirs are moderated and yours are not. It's almost like two competing groups, and it's an annoyance going from one to the ...
<img src="/library/msdn/emoticons/emotion-55.gif" alt="Idea" />How about having <font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #008000" color="#ffffff">an link to us</font><font> section with images of main, libary ect.<img src="/library/msdn/emoticons/emotion-2.gif" alt="Big Smile" /></font>
So, where iam I going to post this suggestion for MS developers to see it?
How about adding ASP.NET forums ? Isn't ASP.NET "technical" enough ? Thanks for your reply.
Is it possible to subscribe to Alerts by default when replying to a message? This seems to be the behavior when creating a new thread, but not for replies. Thanks, Ajay
The title should say it all, but I think there are some specific features that need to be added if the interface to this forum is to be web-based. First, on a profile-basis, allow me to specify multiple signatures. Then, in my profile properties, allow me to specify one signature as my ...

Hello all The forum looks very good. I couldn't find a link to show all the unread post since the last visit. A lot of forums have this feature. It would be nice to have it.
Please, create DHTML-featured version for forums. You note NNTP is not suitable for current scenarios, but current ASP.NET-based, Postback-based model really ugly for massive traffic. For example, see RSDN.ru — it is good DHTML-featured and readable (as well it supports NNTP and it's special ...
